Kungur cave

This business card of the Perm region. Natural karst dungeon, the seventh in length among similar ones: 5700 meters of grottoes, passages and halls. Here are located 70 lakes and a half hundred unique “organ pipes” – natural vertical mines. It is cold in the cave, in some places it is below-zero temperature, therefore there are 12 thousand years old ice stalactites preserved here.

Stone Town

This is an array of sandstone, which for thousands of years the wind has turned into a cluster of massive pillars-outliers. Before that, a river worked its way over the natural architecture, making arches and crevices in the rocks, making natural formation surprisingly similar to a man-made city. By analogy, the gorges are called streets, and individual rocks have their own names. Local nicknamed landmark Devil’s Settlement.

Here are 23 wooden architecture objects brought from all over the edge, located on 35 hectares of the open-air museum off the coast of the Kama. Inside the buildings themselves, exhibitions of objects of local crafts and creativity are opened, the interiors of the epochs, which include buildings, are restored. The territory of the complex is landscaped: cobbled streets, embankment, lighting. For guests open tea.

Belogorsky monastery

The current monastery, nicknamed for the severity of the statute “Ural Athos”. Located on White Mountain, 40 km from Kungur and 70 from Perm. The majestic Holy Cross Cathedral in the Neo-Byzantine style is located on the territory. Everything from scratch is recreated from archival photographs in the nineties, after a major fire. The monastery is usually visited as part of a weekend tour of the sights of Kungur.

Usva pillars

The limestone massif with a height of 120 meters stretches for kilometers along the right bank of the Usva. As a tourist object interested climbers, speleologists and archeology lovers. There are a lot of caves and grottoes, and new ones are regularly opened: the rock is quite difficult to climb and not all are examined. A separate attraction – Devil’s Finger, a vertical rock ledge with a height of 70 meters.

Kama reservoir

After the construction of the Kama hydroelectric station, a significant area near the Kama and several other rivers were flooded, forming a reservoir. Under the water were historic cities and a number of industrial facilities, which attracts divers here. Here, excellent fishing and developed yachting. Every summer, the Kama reservoir receives participants in the local sailing regatta – the Kama Cup.

Waterfall Plakun

One of the few Ural waterfalls. Located on the river Sylva near the village of Suksun. It originates not from the river, but from a rocky cleft, forms a fifteen meter creek and falls from a height of 7 meters, emitting a strong hum. The water is clean, suitable for drinking without treatment. It is considered a holy source, because it attracts pilgrims to perform ablutions. Bowl waterfall is equipped with a font.

Mount Kolpaki

A small mountain with a maximum height of 614 meters, its main feature is its location on the border of Europe with Asia. At the top is equipped with an observation deck, which offers views of both sides of the world. They visit the Kolpak all year round, the slope is gentle and very convenient for hiking ascension, in winter they specially trample the path to admire the stunning snowy landscapes.

Cave Miracle

A relatively small cave of the mountain Kladovaya Stone, which is on the bank of Ponysha, the Chusovaya tributary, 512 meters long. It is not easy to find the entrance, it is a meander – a rather narrow horizontal slot. Her grottoes are replete with bizarre stalactites and lime limestones. A cave from the category of simple, special speleologist skills and equipment for the excursion is not needed, just a flashlight.

Orda cave

Near the village of Orda on the Kungur River there is an underwater cave in karst deposits under the Kazakovsky mountains. Rest here is meant special – speleodiving, walk with an aqualung on the flooded grottoes. The total length is 4600 meters, and the dry part is only 300. It’s not necessary to carry your equipment: there is a diving base on site with all the necessary and experienced instructors.

Reserve Basegi

The best place for ecotourism in the region. On the slopes of the ridge Basega is a reserve, sheltered hundreds of plant species with animals, some of which are the Red Book. Admission is allowed only by prior request for groups of up to 10 people, always with a guide. Tourists usually visit the Korostylevsky cordon, the Usva River and the Oslyanka mountain. In winter, ski tours are provided.

Cathedral Square in Solikamsk

Three attractions of Solikamsk are located here at once. The cathedral bell tower is the Russian analogue of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, its vertical inclination is determined even without special devices by sight. The milestone of Solikamsk indicates the beginning of a straight path called the Sovereign, from the center of Russia to Siberia. And the Trinity Cathedral is a structure of the XVII century, the most large-scale and beautiful among the religious objects of the region.

Vishersky Reserve

It was founded on the territory, which gathered several natural zones within the boundaries of 240 thousand hectares: a dark coniferous taiga forest, “bare” mountains, swamps and water surface. There are 4 types of tours of the reserve with different length of the route during which you can watch the local fauna and admire nature. Special attention is given to the protected landscape Vetlan – a huge rock stone, equipped with a viewing platform.

Perm gate

In the “Park of Stones” in Perm there is an art object of Nikolai Polissky’s work from intertwined spruce logs in the form of a four-sided U-shaped arch. A cube with faces of 12 meters at night is illuminated from the inside and complemented by an interactive sound installation. He became the unofficial symbol of the city, was repeatedly subjected to acts of vandalism. The construction is considered temporary and can be dismantled at any time.

Lake Chusovskoe

Shallow wide lake among the Perm marshes. The places around are sparsely populated, which is connected with the underground nuclear explosions conducted here, which formed Lake Nuclear nearby. Within the limits of Chusovskogo, the background is normal and it is allowed to catch fish abundant here (pike, ide, crucian carp, burbot, perch, etc.). True, there are no roads here; you can only get there by a motorboat along the Visherka River.

Blue Lakes Aleksandrovska

Near the town of Aleksandrovsk in the north of the region there is a scattering of mountain lakes filled with turquoise-colored water. The most interesting is man-made reservoirs, former limestone pits. The limestone suspension gives an unusual color, but the fish lives here and the water is suitable for swimming. You can stay at the recreation center built here, but here you can rent equipment for underwater hunting.

The museum with a sad history dedicated to the prisoners of repression, languishing in Perm ITK-36 near the village of Kuchino. Among the famous prisoners of the colony are many Soviet dissidents, such as Natan Sharansky and Gleb Yakunin. There was also a corps for especially dangerous recidivists, who were kept separately. In 1988, the institution was liquidated, but 10 years later it was restored and turned into a museum.

Ethnographic Park of the History of the Chusovaya River

The main part of the expositions of the village-museum is the life of the Perm peasantry of the last century. In addition to the standard hut of those years, there is a blacksmith shop, a fire-watch room, a grocery shop, a wooden doll theater (booth), and a pottery workshop. All exhibits are authentic, real antiques. The heart of the park is the museum of the famous Ermak. There are also collections of personal belongings of native-born writers, among them Astafevs and Green.

Ust-Borovsk Salt Plant

“Permyak – salty ears” was called before the inhabitants of the region. The main source of income of these lands was the sale of salt, and it is not surprising that the old buildings on the territory of the processing plant turned into a museum. The equipment and facilities of the 19th century are preserved here: a pickling machine, salt lari, an office hut, a guard post, warehouses, breweries where the product and hand tools of Perm salt marshles evaporated.

Zhigalan waterfalls

It is not easy to get here, but among the Perm sights there are waterfalls – one of the most visited. This is a cascade of 550 meters in length with a drop in level at the extreme points of more than 600! The largest is Lower, 15 meters high. The water is clean, ice. The place is quite crowded, but wild to this day. It is rather simple to meet the local living creatures here, therefore it is necessary to be more careful – bears are found here.

Cemetery of locomotives

The remote station Shumkovo in the middle of the forest became the base of the reserve for locomotives. Previously, it was the secret conservation base of rolling stock in case of war, but in the nineties it was abandoned. There are dozens of locomotives here and personally examine them, pull the levers and look into the boilers is not forbidden. The electric train cars, set for a seasonal joke, are driven here, but access to them is denied, there is security.

White Sea Berezniki

The unique man-made object is a slurry lake at the Bereznyakovsky Soda Plant. Waste production gives it a smooth azure color, and coastal sand makes it snow-white. Admire the beauty will have from afar – muddy shores and unsuitable for swimming water. But the lake is not poisonous, according to the locals’ assurances, seagulls live here with unusual feathers painted in soft pink color.

Perm Cathedral Mosque

The mosque was built in 1903 at the expense of Perm Muslims, including several Tatar merchants. The peculiarity of the building in a mixture of Oriental and Russian motifs in the external design. As a building for religious purposes was used until 1937, later – as a warehouse. In the nineties, the building was returned to the Muslim community, now it is the main place of worship for believers in Perm.

Holy Trinity Stephanov Monastery

The history of the monastery began with the lighting in 1790 of a small church. Over time, the dilapidated wooden building replaced the majestic temple, which was given the rank of a cathedral. In the post-revolutionary time, the premises were transferred to the city bread factory as a warehouse, in the nineties the building was returned to the church, restored the original appearance. Now at the monastery operates the icon-painting workshop, where they conduct training for future artists.

Man-made Canal Copan

The canal was dug to provide the Ochersky Stroganov Iron Works with water as a source of energy for mechanisms operating from the waterwheel. True, the project failed, although the work was titanic: the passage was made manually in the rocks. Now it is a popular tourist site, as its bed is a cascade of artificial waterfalls with an intricate wall for climbers.

Vakutin stone

The rock itself is not particularly remarkable, they climb it for the sake of the stunning panorama that opens from it. View of a huge round glade formed by the loop of the river Irgin and the forest hanging over it. It creates a breathtaking illusion of free flight. In the river itself, the lucky one can catch a valuable trophy: the legendary Ural grayling. Another plus attractions – it is easy to reach by car.

Perm Museum of Local Lore

The museum has dozens of branches scattered around the edge. The main building is the former home of the steamer Meshkov directly in Perm. His collections and expositions are extensive and diverse, trying to cover all the milestones of the history of these lands. From archaeological artifacts from the excavated ancient settlements to the history of the revolutionary movement in the province. Often, various events are held here to increase interest in history, such as free visiting days with exciting excursions.

History Museum “Motovilikhinsk Plants”

In the two parts of the museum: in the open air and in the building of the XIX century, the history of the copper smelter is presented, and later – the arms production and samples of its products. Among them are both the ancient cannons of the Donapoleon era, the Great Patriotic artillery system (a quarter of the barrel artillery that smashed the fascists during the war years) was released, as well as modern equipment: ballistic missiles, volley fire systems. Attendance is free.

Perm State Art Gallery

50 thousand works of art in one building. The period of time: from ancient (rock painting, ceramics) to modern times. Expositions are distributed chronologically and by authorship: Russian, Western European, Eastern. After the transfer of the building of the Museum of the Russian Orthodox Church, the exhibitions were moved to the premises of the former rocket school. A special pride is the collection of wooden sculptures by Perm masters.

Happiness is not far away

Art object by Boris Matrosov, which became a symbol of Perm. This optimistic phrase is reproduced on the Kama Embankment in huge red letters. After discharge from the reservoir, the inscription appeared to be one-third flooded, which made it very popular. The object regularly suffers from vandals and drivers of small boats, but is constantly being restored. Widely known for the opening credits of the series “The Real Guys”.
