In a series of articles I will make a plan-review in which I will describe which dThe sights of New York can be visited if you have from one to seven days left. The plan, naturally, is indicative, it all depends on your strength and desire. At the same time you can see how it looks New York in winter.
From this article you will learn that you can and should look at the 1st day:
I must say that New York is an expensive city, but the opportunity to save money is always and everywhere. In separate articles we and Andrews discover secrets:
So, the sights of New York.
Also for planning a visit to New York, you will find the following articles useful:
Rockefeller Center (Top of the Rock)
The famous skyscraper of New York, which is undoubtedly worth climbing to see Manhattan in all its glory. I recommend to come here early to see what New York looks like in the morning. WITH Top of the rock You can see an excellent panorama of Central Park and downtown.
The best views are opened from the 70th floor, because it is on it there is an open viewing platform with a 360 ° view. There are two more glazed areas on the 67th and 69th floors.
Address: 50th St. between 5th and 6th Avenues
How to get there by subway: B, D, F, V to 47-50th Street Rockefeller Center
Entrance fee (without City Pass): for adults – $ 29, for children 6-12 years old – $ 18, for children up to 6 years old – free of charge.
Operation mode: daily from 8:00 to 24:00, the last elevator to the top leaves at 23:00. Least of all people is from 8 to 10 in the morning or from 22 to 23 in the evening.
Visiting Top of the Rock cost us less, because we bought the City Pass in advance, along with it, there was no need to queue for tickets. If you still haven’t read what City pass and how is it different from New york pass, I recommend to get acquainted.
Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
I think the question of visiting the Green Lady or not is not even raised. Of course! After all, it is a symbol not only of New York, but of all of America.
Get on Liberty Island It is possible on the ferry, before boarding which, all things are thoroughly checked.
Swim to the island for about 10 minutes. After arriving, you can walk and take photos or look through binoculars at the skyscrapers of Manhattan.
In order to get on the pedestal of the statue, it is necessary to pass one more test. In my opinion, there is nothing special to do on the pedestal. Bottom views are better.
By the way, before climbing you will have to hand over bags and other backpacks with tripods to the storage room. It is worth the pleasure of $ 2 for 2 hours. It works on the fingerprint.
Freedom Island Bonus – Ellis Island, to which all immigrants once arrived in the New World and Immigration Museum (Immigration Museum).
Where does the ferry go from: Battery Park
Departure time: every 35-40 minutes from 8:30 am, the monument is allowed until 16:15 inclusive. On holidays, the time of work may and will be different, specify.
Ferry ticket price (without City Pass): for adults – $ 18, for children 4-12 years old – $ 9, for children up to 4 years old – for free.
Additional Information: Everything about visiting the Statue of Liberty, including the daily ferry departure schedule, can be found here. A visit to the Crown is charged separately and it is advisable to book a tour in advance.
Battery Park and Clinton Castle
You will see them anyway if you go to the Statue of Liberty. That the first, that the second attraction do not constitute anything special, but for the overall development you can see. If you’re lucky in Battery Park see some noisy street performance.
Clinton castle may be useful from a purely practical point of view: on its territory you can take free guides to New York.
Brooklyn Bridge (Brooklyn Bridge) and Manhattan Bridge
After the voyage to the Island of Freedom, it would be very logical to walk to Brooklyn bridge. This is his love to show in Hollywood films. The peculiarity of the bridge is that it is pedestrian and is entirely paved with wood, only cyclists can disturb, but for them a separate path is allocated.
The bridge offers a great view of Manhattan.
On Manhattan Bridge it is not necessary to go, you can admire it from Brooklyn.
Wall Street (Wall Street): New York Stock Exchange (New York Stock Exchange), Federal Hall (Federal Hall) and Trinity Church)
Wall Street, perhaps, this name was heard by everyone. They say it is on this street that world financial history is going on. A bunch of world-famous companies, hiding behind a very modest signage, lives just here, on a narrow street.
On Wall Street lurking New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), it seems that now no news release is complete without mentioning it. On the diagonal of the exchange – Federal Hall and Washington Monument. It was in this Federation Hall that the first inauguration of the President of the United States took place.
Wall Street – the street is very compact and short, but noisy and crowded with tourists and American working people. A little break from the hustle and bustle can be Trinity Churches, which just ends financial street.
Bronze Bull (Charging Bull or Wall Street Bull)
The symbol of financial prosperity, they say, brings good luck in material matters. Long queue wishing to take pictures with Bronze bull testifies that the people believe in this bike. On top of that, one should not just take a picture, but do it by grabbing the bull by the horns, and even better, for hanging between the legs.
Empire State Building
Visit Empire State Building (ESB) – A great opportunity to see nightly New York in all its glory. But, before you get to this beauty, you will have to go through a test, pass a tripod and defend a rather big turn to the elevator.
The ground on the 86th floor is fenced, but this does not interfere with enjoying the panorama of the city. By the way, one ticket to the skyscraper can be climbed twice: during the day and after 22:00. We cheated as we arrived shortly before sunset and managed to look at Manhattan in the rays of the setting sun and in the light of sparkling lights. Impressions – super!
Address: 350 5th Ave. and 34th St.
How to get there by subway: 1, 2, 3, A, B, C, D, E, F, M, N, Q, R up to 34th St.
Entrance fee (without City Pass): for adults – $ 42, for children of 6-12 years old – $ 36, for children up to 6 years old – free of charge. With a standard ticket, you can climb to a maximum of 86 floor (believe me, this is more than enough), if you want to climb even higher, on the 102 floor, you will have to pay $ 17.
Operation mode: every day from 8:00 am to 2:00 am, the last lift to the top leaves 45 minutes before closing. Least of all people is from 8 to 10 in the morning or after 22 in the evening.
Music Hall Radio City (Radio City Music Hall)
The famous theater and concert hall in New York Radio City Music Hall is an arena where a variety of productions are performed: operas, ballet, musicals, even a Grammy several times. At the Music Hall you can watch from the side (it is next to the Empire State Building) or go to one of the performances, if you have the desire, time and money, because, I think, the pleasure is not cheap.
Times Square (Times Square)
Another significant place in New York – Square Times Square. Noisy, flashing neon lights, huge advertising signs and screens. Every tourist is in a hurry here, because there is no such thing anywhere else. Crowds of onlookers, tourists, costumed characters of cartoons and cinema will make you feel the energy of the place and will definitely cheer you up 100%.
Enjoy your walks in New York, dear readers!

New York Housing
Want to save money on housing in New York and find great options in terms of "price quality", look for apartments and rooms on the Airbnb site, it was there that we found our cozy room in Manhattan for only $ 50.
Whoever is not familiar with the Airbnb service is a resource where the owners directly rent housing (rooms, apartments, houses), and Airbnb acts as a guarantor of the transaction and its security. We have repeatedly found on this site excellent accommodation in terms of price and quality and have always been satisfied.
