Monthly temperature and delay

The most common causes of menstrual irregularities are associated with changes in hormonal levels during malfunction of the ovaries. Deviations are manifested by irregular menstruation. The temperature and the delay of menstruation make women justifiably worry.

Monthly cycle and its phases

Cyclic hormonal changes ensure the reproductive function of the female body. The menstrual cycle consists of several phases. Its duration is calculated from the first day of menstruation and ends with the onset of bleeding next month.

The duration of the cycle itself, as well as its individual periods, is individual for each woman. The stable cycle makes it possible to use the calendar method to select the appropriate time for conceiving a child or days safe for unprotected sex. If menstruation does not come on time, it is a signal to identify violations.

Each month, cycle periods are formed with the participation of the nervous system, which controls complex biological processes. Phase is characterized by a change in the balance of hormones. Thus, with menstruation, estrogen and progesterone levels decrease, rejection of the upper layer of the uterine lining occurs.

At the next stage, the concentration of follicle-stimulating hormone increases, which stimulates the maturation of the egg. Luteinizing hormone contributes to its release, and then fertilization becomes possible. The production of the hormone progesterone affects the thermoregulatory centers of the brain, causes an increase in basal temperature and prepares the uterus for possible upcoming fertilization. Delayed menstruation and temperature 37 indicate a possible pregnancy.

Why the temperature rises

When the cycle is stable, but there is a delay, the temperature is 37, it is worth thinking about pregnancy. It is not always necessary to rely only on these two symptoms. The second day of the delay is too short a period to get a reliable answer to the test, the ultrasound examination will not show anything either. It happens that the basal body temperature 37 is stable during the whole period of delay, then it decreases, and bleeding appears.

Monthly temperature and delay

The so-called basal temperature is measured immediately after sleep in a state of emotional rest only by a mercury thermometer. Depending on the level of hormones in different periods of the cycle, the temperature may fluctuate, which is considered normal. So, until ovulation, it is below 37 °, before menstruation it rises by half a degree.

When at an elevated temperature delay of 3 days, and the test is negative, this is a signal of failures in the female body. The following physiological causes are possible:

  • disorders of the nervous system, psychological disorders and stress;
  • excessive physical exertion;
  • strict diets and fasting;
  • sharp change of climatic conditions.

When there is a delay, and the temperature is 38 or higher, consultation with a specialist is necessary. This may be a sign of premenstrual syndrome, inflammation of the uterus and appendages, and other pathologies.

Physiological causes

Temperature graph is an important indicator for diagnosis. A slight increase before the delay of menstruation can be the norm in the formation of the menstrual cycle, for example, after childbirth and breastfeeding. When the hormonal background is rearranged, the regular cycle is established after 2–3 months. Similar changes in the body of a woman are observed with the extinction of reproductive activity – the rise in temperature before the menstruation delay is characteristic for this period.

Monthly temperature and delay

Work without rest and weekends, to wear out sooner or later leads to stress and cycle disturbances. Delay of menstruation, the temperature can be observed during overwork, prolonged work on simulators or a treadmill. Disruption of the sexual and endocrine system is often associated with overweight women. But nutritional deficiency is as harmful as excess.

Radical changes in life, changes in the situation, climate also cause changes in the menstrual cycle. Can a hereditary factor affect the rise in temperature before the delay of menstruation? This reason has not been fully investigated, but sometimes this feature is indeed transmitted along the female line. However, most often the temperature of 37 during the delay of menstruation indicates the occurrence of fertilization.

Pregnancy signals

The body of a woman at this time is undergoing great changes. Especially changing hormones. Basal temperature rises during a delay in menstruation, other symptoms occur. If the delay is 2 days, the test may be negative. It is recommended to make a blood test for hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin).

A woman may feel and sometimes see swelling and breast augmentation. Sometimes it hurts even to touch the mammary glands. Due to the increased production of progesterone, the basal temperature is more than 37 °. A woman quickly gets tired, there is dizziness, weakness. Blood pressure usually decreases.

Some pregnant women feel toxicosis early: nausea, odor intolerance, vomiting, and other symptoms. Such phenomena should be differentiated with poisoning or the beginning of an intestinal infection. The latter is characterized by loose stools, indomitable vomiting. Toxicosis usually occurs in the morning and when using certain products.

When the test is negative for all symptoms, it is possible that the diagnosticum is defective or an error has been made during its implementation. To make sure that the assumptions are correct, it is necessary to perform several procedures in a few days, and then visit a gynecologist. If the pregnancy is desirable and the woman does not belong to the risk group, there are no other pathological changes in the state of health, gynecological examination after 3 weeks will allow to confirm the diagnosis.

Delay Pathology

The culprit of the fact that a woman has a delay and a temperature of 37, are pathological disorders and pelvic inflammatory diseases:

  • the consequences of scraping after an abortion;
  • ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage at an early stage;
  • complete absence of menstruation with anorexia;
  • inflammation of the uterus and appendages;
  • tumors and polycystic.

Ovarian inflammation (oophoritis) and fallopian tubes (salpingitis) can lead to a delay in menstruation. Often these diseases are combined into a chronic inflammatory process of the appendages – adnexitis.

Even minor disruptions of the menstrual cycle, the rise in temperature to a delay should not be ignored. Consultation doctor confirm or deny the presence of pregnancy. Ultrasound will help determine ectopic pregnancy, the presence of tumor and inflammatory processes in the pelvic area. The sooner the causes are identified, the easier it is to avoid negative consequences.
