Often – brown discharge during pregnancy. They often look like specks or stripes of brown, brown or dark red color. In some cases, there are painful sensations.
The causes of these phenomena are dangerous to the health of the mother and fetus. But in any case, you can not panic, but you need to consult a doctor, undergo an ultrasound and keep the situation under control. Four out of five women who observed brown discharge in early pregnancy, wear it and give birth to children.
When is it safe?
After fertilization, a period begins, especially predisposing to the appearance of such symptoms. But in the first trimester, they are most often safe.
The first manifestations are associated with the physiology of pregnant women. After fertilization for several days, from 5 to 14, the egg moves inside the uterus. Then it is attached to a specific place on its walls. During this process, the vessels may be damaged, causing minor bleeding. This leads to the appearance of pathological secretions in early pregnancy.
Their color can vary from beige, pink to brown. Severe pain does not happen, although some women note varying degrees of severity of sensation in the lower abdomen. The structure of the content is quite thick, the smell is neutral, no itching. Very often, women take them for the beginning of menstruation, because there are no other signs yet.
Another cause of brown secretions appearing in the early stages is incorrect hormone production. Spots appear approximately when the next menstruation had to pass. The duration of this process can reach two days, the volume of discharge is small. No unpleasant sensations manifest.
Similar discharge can occur at the 8th week of pregnancy. This phenomenon is not dangerous for either the future mother or the embryo. Even more, it is able to repeat another two or three times during the first months.
But this and all the reasons why the brown discharge during pregnancy does not carry danger. There are much more pathologies that can damage the baby and the health of the mother. That is why a visit to the doctor is necessary.
The main causes of pathology
Very often, brown discharge during pregnancy, at about 5 weeks and later, indicates a threatened miscarriage. They are caused by flaking of the ovum from the walls of the uterus. This causes damage to the blood vessels.
The cause of this phenomenon is the lack or absence of progesterone production by the female body. This hormone is needed to support the development of the baby.
The appearance of such dark color discharge is possible at any time, for example, at week 12. At first, there are few of them, perhaps an average amount. There are mucous patches. A woman may feel:
- soreness in the lower abdomen;
- vomiting is possible.
A rare but dangerous situation is a bubble skid. During an ultrasound scan, instead of the placenta in the uterus, a large number of fluid-filled cysts are found in the uterus. Discharges during pregnancy are brown, yellow-brown, brown, interspersed with bubbles. Women celebrate:
- pain sensations;
- high blood pressure;
Dangerous situation – bubble skid
The fetus usually dies at 9-10 weeks of gestation, the discharge starts earlier. The tumor is able to penetrate inside the walls of the uterus, then the appearance of metastases in the lungs and vagina is possible. Treatment is usually carried out by removing the skid, sometimes even the uterus. There are isolated cases of partial blistering when a full-term baby was born.
A more frequent dangerous cause of the appearance of dark discharge, most often at week 6, is an ectopic pregnancy. When this fertilized egg is introduced into the fallopian tube, the growth of the fetus will inevitably lead to rupture.
This situation requires an immediate solution. In addition to the possibility of complete removal of the tube, the woman risks getting peritonitis. This results in the filling of the abdominal cavity with fluid due to a rupture of the pipe. It is even possible death.
In this case, the child will not be saved at all, but early detection and treatment can preserve reproductive function. Therefore, it is best to check the status of women in the first weeks.
So, the most common causes of discharge when carrying a child are as follows.
