Allergy to buckwheat in children (as in adults) is extremely rare compared to other types of food allergies. Such a reaction, which is the result of a failure in the immune system of the baby, is triggered by the use of various dishes prepared from this product. It may occur immediately after a meal, or several hours later, and even the next day. Such a delay often creates difficulty in determining the cause of the pathological condition and the correct determination of the allergen.
Sometimes parents confuse food allergies with more serious diseases: poisoning, enzymatic deficiency, individual intolerance to certain components of food. Therefore, in the event of any manifestations of allergy in the baby should immediately seek help from your doctor.
Is allergy to buckwheat?
Buckwheat, unlike other cereals (wheat and rice), has always been considered a hypoallergenic product. About 10 years ago, allergy doctors did not even consider the existence of a reaction to buckwheat as a disease. But today, the question of whether buckwheat causes allergy has been radically revised. Allergic reaction that occurs after taking buckwheat porridge – a fairly common phenomenon. It is much more common in infants than in older children.
Allergy is a very specific disease. Even qualified specialists can not say exactly why it is an allergy to buckwheat. After all, this product contains the minimum amount of gluten, which is part of the majority of cereals and is able to provoke the development of a pathological reaction. Despite all this, allergies often occur in adults and in children, in whose diet buckwheat is introduced for the first time.
What then can cause allergies when eating buckwheat? Such croup – a record for the presence in the composition of the protein, so it is considered a very satisfying food that can even replace animal protein (with vegetarianism). It has a high content of proteins: globulins, albumin and prolamins. These protein components are of plant origin and can cause an allergic reaction. They are extremely nutritious – it is because of this composition that buckwheat is considered so useful. In addition to a large amount of protein, cereals contain many vitamins and trace elements.
By itself, buckwheat is not always the only cause of allergy – the child must have a background that will spur immunity to the wrong reaction to the product. This may be a genetic predisposition to allergies, chronic bowel disease, enzymatic deficiency and banal dysbacteriosis. Therefore, at the first signs of allergy, you must carefully examine the baby.
Can baby allergies occur?
A child who is breastfed may also show signs of diathesis, if the mother had eaten buckwheat the day before. Food allergies adversely affect the condition of a small body. If time does not pay attention to it and does not take action, over time, the reaction to other foods can also develop. But nevertheless, animal protein becomes more often the cause of allergy in an infant, therefore one should precisely determine what provoked the pathological condition.
