Tansy is well known for its therapeutic and antiparasitic activity. The plant grows everywhere, so no difficulties in the procurement or acquisition of raw materials does not arise.
Common tansy is a herbaceous perennial plant with an erect branchy stem, which reaches a height of 60-120 cm. The leaves are pinna-cut, dark green on top, on the reverse side – have a grayish tint, there are also glands. Tansy has a long, branched root. Flowers, white or yellow, rather small, are collected in inflorescences baskets. Externally, they resemble buttons of bright lemon color.
Yellow flower baskets of tansy in June-August can be found everywhere. It grows in gardens, kitchen gardens, mixed forests, birch groves, along river banks. The grass has a strong smell, which scares away flies, fleas, rats, mice, ants.
In past centuries, when chemicals were not yet invented to clean the room from insects, tansy was used as a home disinfector. And this is not surprising, because the plant is poisonous!
Collecting and harvesting
Tansy blooms from June to early or mid-September. The plant grows in all European countries and in most Asian countries. From where the plant grows, changes its chemical composition. The elements included in this plant remain the same, their concentration varies. For example, tansy, which grows in mountainous regions, has a high concentration of substances that make up the essential oil of this plant.
It is necessary to collect medicinal raw materials in ecologically safe areas, far from landfills, industrial zones and large highways. Choose plants need healthy, not damaged by insects. What does tansy treat?
In the treatment of various diseases, all parts of the plant can be used, for example, seeds, flowers, leaves, stem. They relieve inflammation of the kidneys, bladder, treat gastritis, ulcers.
Tansy preparations increase the production of gastric juice, stimulate appetite and improve digestion, help cleanse the intestines from old deposits, prevent the development of putrefactive processes in it.
Antimicrobial properties of tansy help get rid of flatulence. Indeed, flatulence indicates the presence of pathogenic microflora inside. Tansy treats those constipations (spastic), which are caused by spasm of the smooth muscles of the intestine, as it has anti-spasmodic effect. Apply plants in the treatment of migraine and even malaria. Tansy relieves urolithiasis, as it crushes pebbles that are deposited in the urinary tract.
The plant treats and purulent processes on the skin, for example, wounds, boils, as well as external diseases. If scabies, psoriasis, fungal lesions appear, you should make warm baths with a decoction of tansy. Two tablespoons of herbs – per liter of water, boil for three minutes, insist two hours. Take a bath for twenty minutes. Bandages can be impregnated with the same decoction and applied to the affected areas of the skin, for example, ulcers, suppurations.
As part of complex therapy treats tansy respiratory diseases, even tuberculosis. It acts healthfully on the main glands of the human body – the thyroid gland and pancreas. Substances contained in tansy, block the development of tumors, contribute to their cure, heal the nerves, relieve viruses, have a beneficial effect on the heart, but increase blood pressure.
Precautions when taking
Tansy contains large amounts of toxic compounds. Therefore, it is necessary to use the plant for medicinal purposes very carefully. Comply with all recommended dosages, take into account the age of the patient, as well as the general state of health, the presence of chronic diseases. For children, elderly and weakened people, a single amount of the drug should be reduced.
It is necessary to ensure that the reception of tansy-based products did not last more than seven days. In some cases, the duration of treatment may last up to 2-3 weeks. Long-term consumption of tansy can lead to various mental disorders. Therefore, it is better to limit yourself to two weekly courses per year.
Tansy has a choleretic property, so its use should be limited to people who have bile duct stones. Women planning pregnancy and those who are already in this period are not recommended by doctors to use tansy.

Tansy flowers application
The use of tansy in traditional medicine is very diverse. Mainly used such dosage forms as water and alcohol extracts of plants. This water infusion, decoction and alcohol tincture, made on the basis of tansy flowers.
A decoction of tansy flowers must be taken with great caution, as the drug contains toxic substances. It is contraindicated in pregnant women.
Recipe 1. This recipe cures bile duct dyskinesia well. You need 1 dessert spoon of tansy (without top) pour half a cup of boiling water. Dates infuse and take before meals for 3-5 spoons. The amount of grass depends on individual tolerance. Just do not immediately drink the entire amount of decoction. It is necessary to drink it in one spoon, gradually drinking the entire recommended single dose.
Recipe 2. One tablespoon of tansy pour two cups of milk, add a few cloves of garlic and cook on low heat for 10 minutes. Strain and in the form of heat used for enemas for ascariasis in children. One procedure per day.
It is necessary to use such treatment in combination with other antihelminthic drugs. At the same time you need to take a decoction of pomegranate. Pomegranate fruit cut into two parts, one half pour a cup of water and boil for five minutes. Insist two hours. Drink a few sips four times during the day. Recipe 3. Bath with a decoction of tansy helps with cellulite. You can prepare it as follows. Approximately put a cup of dried flowers in a saucepan and add water. Bring to a boil and keep on low heat for about half an hour. Pour the strained decoction into the bath and lie in it for at least twenty minutes. The procedure is repeated ten times a day.
Recipe 4. One hundred grams of baskets pour a cup of boiling water and keep on the fire until the broth becomes yellow-brown. The resulting remedy can cure lichen, including ringworm. To do this, dip a tampon in a hot broth and lubricate their sore point. After three days, the ringworm will disappear, and hair will begin to grow on this spot.
Water extract of the flowers of tansy can be used both inside and for the treatment of external diseases.
Recipe 1. Five grams of yellow baskets brew a cup of boiling water and infuse for at least three hours. Take a tablespoon before each meal for 20-30 minutes. This recipe is used for hepatitis, cholecystitis, acute gastrointestinal disorders, colic, constipation, gas accumulation, as an antihelminthic drug for ascaris, pinworms.
External use in the form of baths and compresses in the treatment of rheumatism, gout, pain in the joints, as an anesthetic for sprains and bruises, as a wound-healing agent. With cramps in the legs, take warm foot baths from the infusion of tansy.
Recipe 2. For kidney disease, mix the crushed raw materials of the leaves of lingonberry (20g), tansy flowers (10 g), horsetail (10 g). Brew a glass of boiling water, a little insist and drink in the morning on an empty stomach and in the evening before bedtime. To do so until complete recovery.
