Before you understand what to do with allergies and how to treat it, it is necessary to determine the causes of its occurrence. Allergy symptoms in children and adults usually manifest themselves with an increase in sensitivity to the effects of a particular environmental factor.

Spring allergy in adults and children occurs in response to pollen, the maximum concentration of which is usually observed in the early morning hours. Favorable conditions for palination (dusting) are sufficient humidity and sunny warm weather. Spring allergy most often occurs on pollen of birch, hazel, alder; as well as ambrosia and wormwood.

How to distinguish pollinosis from other diseases

Only a doctor can decide what to do with allergies in a child or an adult. To diagnose and prescribe treatment should contact an allergist. Also, depending on the identified symptoms (runny nose, conjunctivitis, etc.), the doctor may recommend consulting other specialists. To understand what to do with allergies and how to get rid of it in each case, the doctor collects a medical history, conducts a thorough examination of the child or adult and may order additional research.

Seasonal allergies in children and adults

Seasonal allergy in adults and children (hay fever or hay fever) is a reaction to an allergen that exists, as a rule, only at a specific time of the year, for example in the fall or spring. It manifests itself in many children and adults, however, it often remains not diagnosed and help for allergies does not come in time.

How to treat pollinosis?

Preventive measures can be divided into primary measures that need to be carried out by those who are subject to an adverse reaction to allergens, as well as people in risk groups (gardeners, beekeepers, agricultural workers), and secondary ones for people suffering from seasonal manifestations of allergic reactions. .

Primary

Prevention of the onset of rhinitis and other manifestations of hay fever in the spring and fall consists in observing the correct mode of work and rest, a balanced diet and keeping contact with substances of an allergenic nature to a minimum. So that in the future there is no question of what to do with an allergy in a child, prophylactic monitoring is necessary to identify respiratory diseases, which in a chronic course can lead to an increase in the sensitive child’s body to seasonal allergens.

Secondary

Help with allergies is not only taking medications. To prevent the occurrence of a runny nose with allergies and other unpleasant symptoms in adults and children, it is recommended to: limit your stay in places where there is a large accumulation of different plant species, wear sunglasses and closed clothing in spring and summer; get rid of old upholstered furniture, remove carpets, etc .; timely treat acute infectious-allergic diseases; regularly ventilate and clean the rooms in the house, etc.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Pharmacotherapeutic group – antiallergic agent – H1-histamine receptor blocker.

ATX code – R01AC02

Pharmacodynamic properties

Levocabastin is a selective blocker of H1-histamine receptors with a long lasting effect. The local effect occurs after 5 minutes, and the action lasts for 12 hours. After intranasal administration, nasal spray “Tizin ® Alergi” eliminates the symptoms of allergic rhinitis: nasal discharge, sneezing, itching in the nasal cavity.

Pharmacokinetic properties

With each intranasal administration at a rate of 50 µg / dose, approximately 30–40 µg of levocabastin is absorbed, the maximum concentration of levocabastin in the blood plasma is reached approximately 3 hours after nasal administration. Levocabastin is approximately 55% bound to plasma proteins.

The main metabolite of levocabastine, acylglucuronide, is formed during glucuronidation, which is the main metabolic pathway. Levocabastin is excreted mainly with the urine in unchanged form (about 70% of the absorbed amount). The half-life of levocabastine is about 35-40 hours.

INDICATIONS FOR USE

Symptomatic therapy of seasonal and year-round allergic rhinitis.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug.

Children’s age up to 6 years.

APPLICATION FOR PREGNANCY AND LACTATION

Reliable data on the use of nasal spray “Tizin ® Alergi” in pregnant women are not available. Therefore, Tizin ® Alergi nasal spray should not be used during pregnancy unless the intended benefit to the mother justifies the potential risk to the fetus.

Based on the determination of the concentration of levocabastin in the saliva and breast milk of lactating women who received 0.5 mg of levocabastin orally, it is expected that approximately 0.6% of the total intranasal dose of levocabastin can be passed to the baby during breastfeeding. Due to the limited number of clinical and experimental data, it is recommended to use caution when using nasal spray “Tizin ® Alerdzhi” in lactating women. If necessary, the appointment of the drug during lactation should stop breastfeeding.
