How amazing nature arranged our body. Inside, an equilibrium between two environments — acidic and alkaline — is constantly maintained, creating a balance or acid-base balance.
Changing this balance in one or another direction of acidity makes a person defenseless against many diseases.
What is pH medium?
A balanced pH environment helps to overcome these diseases, providing all the necessary metabolic processes. What is pH medium? Our body consists mainly of water, the aquatic environment promotes the transfer of nutrients and oxygen, is responsible for a number of biochemical reactions in our body.
As in nature, inside the body, the aqueous medium may have acidic or alkaline properties. Acids – positively charged ions of hydrogen and alkali – negatively charged ions of hydrogen.
A characteristic indicator of the pH of the medium is pH (power Hidrogen), which translated means – the power of hydrogen, which is up to 6.9, is considered acidic, 7.0 is neutral, and 7.1 to 14 is alkaline.
In the human body, the pH level is crucial. Our environment is slightly alkaline (with values between 7.35 and 7.45), and if the pH of our circulatory system increases or decreases even by a small amount, it can lead to diseases and even death.
In order for the pH environment to always be within certain limits, our body uses calcium, magnesium and other minerals contained in bones. Simply put, the body sucks calcium and magnesium from the bones, and thus neutralizes acidity and returns the values that are needed.
To maintain balance, a diet should contain about 80% alkalizing foods and only 20% acidifying. Unfortunately, for most people, a diet with a high content of meat, animal products, refined sugars is characteristic – these are 20% alkalizing and 80% acidifying!
And if you add to this the daily use of strong oxidizing agents, such as alcohol, beer, cigarettes, coffee, chips, soft drinks, pastries or worse, sugar substitutes, such as aspartame, found in most soft drinks, it can be concluded that the body is oxidized from the diet can reach toxic proportions for most of the population.
Why the oxidation of the body is dangerous for our health
Impaired acid-base balance affects every organ and every cell in our body. Increased acidity prevents normal operation of more than 4,000 enzymes that catalyze all biochemical processes in tissues and cells, support metabolic processes and regeneration of the body, and protect it from infections and diseases.
Already for many it is obvious that the consumption of meat and dairy products makes the blood more acidic. That is why the countries with the highest consumption of dairy products in the world suffer from osteoporosis. The solution is not to take more calcium and magnesium, but in a more proper diet.
When the diet consists of predominantly acidic foods (animal fats and proteins, highly heat-treated foods, sugars), stimulants such as caffeine, alcohol, frequent use of pharmaceutical drugs, this leads to degenerative aging processes, a number of cardiovascular complications, diabetes and cancer.
One of the main factors that influence changes in pH is excessive consumption of animal protein. With the consumption of meat in large quantities, which contains mainly proteins, strongly increases the acidity of urine.
The body then draws minerals from the circulatory system to return to normal pH. In this process, the body is oxidized again and loses the supply of calcium and magnesium, which can lead to crystallization of salts in it, and the formation of sand and stones in the kidneys and bladder.
Consumption of fatty, fried and sweet foods leads to increased acidity of gastric acid, which can be expressed by an unpleasant burning sensation in the stomach, nausea, belching, vomiting, then with an unpleasant smell, irritability, fatigue, mental distress.
Chronic oxidation due to the consumption of these products can cause chronic diseases, metabolic disorders, gout, rheumatism, sclerosis, fungal diseases, various inflammations, ulcers, cancer, osteoporosis, bone fragility, headache, migraine, rheumatism, acne and others.
Acid-forming products act on the body in the same way that acid rain on plants.
The need for cells to produce energy is satisfied by burning simple and complex carbohydrates from all plant products (these are alkalizing, such as raw fruits and vegetables plus weakly oxidizing, such as cereals and legumes).
Consumption of products that are subjected to heat treatment or fatty foods, significantly increases the acidity, which in turn leads to fermentation processes in the body.
In other words, a diet based on plant foods keeps the acid-base balance at a normal level and provides an opportunity to get enough oxygen to the cells, since glucose goes directly into the blood and gives us vitality and strength. From plant foods, you can also get fats and proteins, but they are in the optimal ratio.
If animal fats and proteins dominate the diet, this leads to fermentation in the stomach due to high acidity. In other words, when the aquatic environment in the human body becomes acidic (low) pH, the risk of developing cancer increases, cancer cells grow faster in an acidic environment and in the absence of oxygen.
What foods are acidifying?
Among the oxidizing products can be identified almost all nuts (almonds, cashews, macadamia, hazelnuts, Brazilian) and seeds (pumpkin, sesame, hemp, sunflower), they are soaked in water to neutralize the acid.
Nuts and seeds contain mostly fat and protein, so they should not be included in moderate acidifying foods, preferably soaked in water before consumption. Roasted nuts and seeds are highly acidifying foods.
All grains (wheat, rye, oats and
Different soy products also have different degrees of acidity, for example, bean sprouts are alkalizing, while tofu and soy milk can range from slightly alkaline to slightly oxidizing. The product table shows alkaline, neutral and acidic pH.

It is important to know that ripe fruits contain some enzymes, for example, if you eat bananas it is better to choose soft and overripe with black spots, rather than hard and unripe, which are also more expensive.
Medium acidity foods include dried fruit, olive oil, and all other cold pressed oils (linseed, grape seed, and
Wines, coffee, chocolate, fried foods, most boiled mushrooms, roasted nuts and peanuts, honey, brown sugar, white flour, canned foods, sweetened juices can be distinguished from highly oxidizing. This group includes all products containing various ingredients and dyes (baking, preservatives, artificial sweeteners).
Strongly oxidizing products that can seriously affect the balance:
- pharmaceutical products (aspirin and analgin),
- spirits, beer (pH 2.4.),
- white sugar,
- meat fish,
- milk products,
- energy drinks.
Under the extreme oxidation products of falling pesticides, herbicides and insecticides, antibiotics, aspartame (pH 1.0.) And all drugs: heroin, methamphetamine and so on.
How does the body affect increased acidity?
When the body is acidified, the delivery of oxygen to the cells of the whole organism is disrupted, which leads to a metabolic disorder. The acidity of the body contributes to the loss and elimination of vital minerals from all tissues and blood (K, Ca, Na, Mg), which accelerates the risk of heart disease, bone system, reduced immunity.
What is acidosis? Increased acidity in the body is called acidosis. Often, excessive alcohol consumption leads to this disease. This disease is accompanied by disorders of the cardiovascular system, vascular spasms, kidney disease, stone formation, bone fragility, excessive weight …
The most common signs of increasing acidity include:
- fatigue and migraines
- difficulty concentrating and remembering
- excessive oily skin upon waking,
- profuse sweating from the slightest effort
- bad breath and tongue wrapped in the morning,
- dyspepsia, muscle cramps.
What products are alkalinizing?
Alkalizing products: In this group of food can be attributed lemons (although they are acidic, but they create an alkaline environment when they enter the body, but milk is alkaline, but it creates an acidic environment in the body), Himalayan sea salt, raw and fresh leafy green vegetables (nettle, spinach , cabbage), fresh plants (plantain, sorrel, dandelion, wheat grass), cabbage, garlic, cucumber, watermelon, cantaloupe, coconut water, raw and fresh horseradish, raw chili pepper.
Secondary alkalizing foods, can be eaten in large quantities. This includes almost all raw and ripe fruits, vegetables and root vegetables (ripe bananas, dates, oranges, pineapples, tangerines, mangoes, papaya, kiwi, nectarines, peaches, apricots, apples, pears, pumpkins, carrots, zucchini, tomatoes, peppers, onions, cauliflower, broccoli, artichokes, ginger, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, cherries), and all herbs and herbal teas. Each heat treatment of vegetables increases their acidity.
Purified or pure spring water has a neutral pH of 7, while the pH of mineral water depends on the amount of mineral content. Tap water is more acidic. To maintain balance, it is better to drink mineral or purified.
How does excessive body alkalization affect the body?
In addition to increased acidity, the balance can be disturbed by increased alkalinity, which is expressed in muscle spasms, diarrhea, dizziness, euphoria, pallor, confusion, decreased mental capacity, incoherent speech, tremor.
What is alkalosis? Excessive alkalization of the body also causes disease – alkalosis. With this disease, the absorption of minerals is disturbed, the food is poorly absorbed, which contributes to the development of toxins and their penetration into the blood. An excess of alkali in the body is more difficult to correct, compared with an excess of acid. Most often, this disease occurs when an overdose of drugs containing alkali.
This disease is accompanied by liver problems, the appearance of bad breath, the development of parasites in the body, the appearance of allergic reactions, the frequent exacerbation of chronic diseases, constipation ….
Maintain acid-base balance for your health
Man’s nature created this way, that only with a normal ratio of acid and alkali, minerals, vitamins and nutrients are absorbed in the body. In case of imbalance, as noted above, the necessary minerals are lost (not absorbed and removed), thereby creating a deficiency within the body.
Our task is to help the body not to lose, and get everything you need. And for this, both alkaline foods (80%) and acidic (20%) must be present in the food. And even the best nutrition or treatment program will not bring the proper result if this balance is disturbed.
It is important to note that not only food, but also the emotional state is extremely important for maintaining pH balance.
