The pancreas performs the most important functions in the human body: intrasecretory, extra-secretory or digestive. Accordingly, in violation of the functionality of this body, the whole body suffers! How are pancreatic diseases manifested, what are the symptoms of pathologies and how to prevent them?
The role of the pancreas and its functionality
Despite its small size, the pancreas is a very important organ!
The pancreas performs the most important functions in the human body: intrasecretory, extra-secretory or digestive. It is peritoneally, and the omental bag separates the stomach from the gland. Next to the iron is the left renal vein, the vena cava and the aorta. Conditionally pancreas is divided into sections:
Pancreatic juice enters the intestine via the Wirsung duct, or, as it is otherwise called, pancreatic. Before entering the intestine, it combines with the bile duct. The pancreas includes two parts, different in structure:
- islets of Langergans (produce glucagon and insulin);
- the glandular part (synthesizes the pancreatic gland juice).
The cause of the start of the disease or exacerbation becomes the wrong person’s diet. Symptoms of diseases associated with the pancreas are very similar, it is dyspeptic and pain syndromes. The process of diseases of the pancreas are accompanied by disorders of the digestive system. That is why the observance of the rules of nutrition is an integral part of the healing process.
When healthy, gland enzymes do not affect their own tissues. In the inflammatory process, the process of self-digestion of pancreatic tissue begins, and the cells of the gland, which are rich in enzymes, are damaged. Enzymes go outside and have a disastrous effect on tissue not yet damaged, thus closing the circle.
Pancreatitis or inflammation of the pancreas
Pancreatitis or inflammation of the pancreas always goes along with severe abdominal pain. The pains are arching in nature, and depending on the affected area they can be given to the right or left hypochondrium, sometimes pain can radiate to the epigastric region.
There are cases when the patient clearly feels pain in the back or left shoulder blade. Pain in acute pancreatitis may resemble an attack of biliary colic, since it has the same set of symptoms:
- vomiting with admixture of bile;
- pain in the upper quadrant right;
- irradiation of pain in the back.
Bright pains speak of the release of enzymes from the pancreas and chemical effects on tissue. When the main part of the parenchyma dies the pain becomes weaker, subsides. Girdle pain, pronounced, accompanied by repeated vomiting, all signs of intoxication, says pancreatitis, which covered the entire gland. As for the body temperature, with purulent pancreatic necrosis it is elevated, normal with edematous form and with the onset of collapse.
Pancreatitis pain attacks are very strong.
During the course of the disease, the patient’s skin acquires a pale tint. If a person acquires a blue tint, then this indicates a severe form of the disease, which is accompanied by severe intoxication and large violations of the peripheral circulation.
One third of all patients with acute pancreatitis manifest jaundice.
Sometimes it happens that on the stomach, face, buttocks appear characteristic spots (in the form of hemorrhages of the type of pechaea), or large round spots on the chest, abdomen, back, which do not disappear when pressed on them. It is also a typical symptom of the disease.
In the initial stages of the disease, the patient has constipation, after which the stool becomes unstable, the diarrhea and constipation alternate. The course of the disease is accompanied by the development of a lack of vitamins, minerals, patients lose weight very much, stomatitis, dryness of the mucous membranes of the tongue and skin are manifested. The main treatment for pancreatitis is a strict diet to restore and relieve the gland. Diet is a rejection of food for several days, after which boiled and steamed dishes are included in the diet.
Chronic pancreatitis: symptoms
Chronic pancreatitis is a progressive disease. As a result of the course of the disease, the normal pancreatic tissue is replaced by connective tissue. The most common cause of chronic pancreatitis is alcohol abuse. The second place among the causes of pancreatitis is the pathology of the biliary tract.
Other factors leading to pancreatitis include: surgery and injuries on the pancreas, biliary tract, liver, viral hepatitis B and C, pronounced disorders of fat metabolism. A destructive diet is a starting factor for the development of the disease. The periodicity of chronic pancreatitis is represented by two periods: the acute period and remission.
Symptoms of exacerbation of the disease: intermittent or constant pain, which has a different intensity, most often occurs within half an hour after the last meal in the epigastric region, in the sub-region. The pain gives to the arm, back, sternum and scapula. If the entire pancreas is affected, the pain will be shingles. At the same time, nausea and vomiting are added to the surrounding pain, which does not bring the patient even the slightest relief.
The signs of indigestion are also known about themselves: appetite disturbances, flatulence, body temperature rises, general weakness of the body, and fast fatigue are noted.
If a patient suffers from chronic pancreatitis for more than ten years, then not even pain syndrome but a functional gland insufficiency comes to the fore. The decrease in juice production has its own distinctive features: stool impairment (consistency, no more than 3 times a day, gray, shiny, unpleasant smell, food remains that have not been digested), flatulence.
Constant overeating – the load on the pancreas!
Disruption of the digestive process during illness leads to beriberi, deficiency of fats, proteins, carbohydrates, various micro and macroelements. In other words, there are big problems with the assimilation of useful components of food.
The patient has a sharp weight loss, the development of anemia, dysbiosis, osteoporosis. That is why this part of the treatment is nutrition, proper diet, which contributes to the preservation of nutrients in the body.
Exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis causes early development of hypo-glycemic conditions, such as trembling in the body, cold sweat, weakness of the body. With the long course of the disease, a more serious disease can develop over time – diabetes (secondary). The treatment process begins in the hospital with forced starvation, which later gradually goes into a strict diet: warm meals, boiled and steamed, and light soups are possible.
Cyst, chronic pancreatitis, tumors (benign) of the pancreas – predrakovye diseases. When exposed to certain factors, they can become malignant. Such factors are smoking, alcohol consumption, insufficient amount of vegetables and various fruits in the patient’s diet.
2 times diabetes increases the risk of pancreatic cancer. One out of twenty cases of pancreatic cancer is associated directly with chronic pancreatitis. Treatment should begin with the elimination of the factor that caused the development of the disease. The signs of a gland lesion vary depending on which department is affected.
Symptoms of the disease
At the very beginning, the disease proceeds quite imperceptibly, the patient does not always have health complaints, even from the digestive side. The cause for anxiety is pain, which is localized in the region of the stomach, sub-region. Sometimes the pain becomes shingles, can give in the back. The pain becomes stronger with the onset of night. In the future, the patient notes the weight loss, for no apparent reason, as well as weakness, fatigue and heaviness in the epigastric region.
With the development of pancreatic cancer diet is not important, it is more important to begin surgical treatment.
At that moment, when the tumor reaches a sufficient size, another symptom is added – jaundice. It grows rapidly, the skin acquires a greenish-brown shade. This is due to the compression of the bile duct tumor. Further, itching of the skin is added to the symptoms, and the stool becomes discolored.
The patient loses his usual appetite, worried about nausea, belching manifests itself. There is a reluctance to eat meat, as well as fatty foods. Increased fluid loss in the body, weight loss is becoming more significant. Compliance with the diet becomes mandatory conditions for a speedy recovery.
Signs of cancer of the tail and body glands
Symptoms depend on the site of pancreatic injury
This type of disease is even more rarely detected. The reason for this – the location of the tumor, which only with significant size reaches the bile duct. The tumor quickly grows into the upper arteries and veins. In one of five cases, the development of diabetes mellitus (secondary) is observed due to the death of those cells that are responsible for insulin production.
From the tail, the tumor sometimes grows into the vessels of the spleen and portal veins. All this leads to an increase in the size of the spleen. It is precisely at this location that the pain is particularly pronounced, since the tumor grows into the nerve plexuses lying nearby.
For most tumors, only palliative treatment is acceptable. In the early stages, tumors that are secreted with specific hormones are diagnosed. Tumors of this type are characterized by slow growth, but this does not prevent them from having a cardinal effect on the state of hormones in the body.
Symptoms will depend directly on the type of disease.
In case a large amount of glucagon is produced during an illness, a person will be disturbed by dermatitis, and the blood glucose level increases. Diseases of the pancreas, in particular cancer, are dangerous by possible early metastasis to the liver, bone, lymph nodes, lungs and
Prevention of pancreatic diseases, diet
Diet plays an important role in the treatment and prevention of diseases of the pancreas. The list of products that are recommended for use for people with diseases of the pancreas. It is necessary to add bread to the daily ration (white, can be black, only on condition of yesterday’s baking).
