Whether it is possible to wet a burn, of course, it is better to learn from the treating specialist. However, with minor injuries, patients rarely go to the doctor, self-medicating at home. The answer to this exciting question depends on the extent of the damage, the complications that have arisen and the general condition of the patient.
Everyone at least once experienced the painful and uncomfortable symptoms of such injuries. This can occur for various causal factors: boiling water, sunlight, improper handling of chemicals, and much more.
As a first aid, in most cases it is recommended to substitute the burned area of the skin under cold water or apply ice to relieve pain, prevent swelling, and reduce possible complications.
Important! You can soak the burn in the first minutes after injury, to provide emergency care, eliminate painful symptoms and reduce the affected area.
For all types of skin lesions (thermal, radiation, solar, etc.), cold liquid helps prevent deeper injuries. With chemical wounds, it is possible to wash off the remnants of reagents with damaged areas with water. But there is an exception – in case of chemical exposure to lime, it is necessary to limit the contact of the burnt area with water, otherwise the localization may expand.
In the case of the formation of open wounds, blisters, experts always recommend washing the burned area with the antiseptic solution Chlorgeskisin, Furacilin, Miramistin, in order to prevent infection, but it is not recommended to wet the burned area.
Important! It is possible to wash a wound from a burn, if I degree injury, when the integrity of the skin is not broken, infection is unlikely, therefore it is allowed to wash without restrictions.
Is it possible to wash with burns, how to deal with an open wound? Of course, regardless of the injury, you can not forget about the rules of the hyena. But for the time of bathing, the burned surface of the skin must be protected from moisture. Experts advise not to use water at all in case of any significant skin pathologies, regardless of the factor that caused the damage. This may aggravate the complications, because the place of the burn is very easily infected, there are various pathogenic microorganisms in the water.
Is it possible to wash a burn wound during blistering? When blisters filled with liquid appear on the skin, constant contact with water can cause infection and inflammation. Especially it is necessary to minimize it when the bubbles began to burst and open, open wounds should be under a sterile dressing.
Severe injuries and extensive skin lesions should also not be subjected to systematic contact with water. Constant moisture on the surface of the injured area will interfere with healing, tightening the open wound, and in the future may even cause suppuration.
Whether it is possible to wet a burn is always better to ask your doctor, a lot depends on the area, degree and nature of the lesion. Virtually any thermal or chemical injury is allowed to rinse with cold running water to prevent deep damage and complications during first aid. But in the future you should not wash the wound from the burn, it is better to keep it open and dry, if necessary, wet it with antiseptic solutions.
Is it possible to wet the burn?
If the burn is wetted with water, it will heal for a long time and blisters will go. In no case it is impossible to soak water, but rubbed potatoes or any other vegetable will be better than any ointment. for a couple of hours to keep on the burn, and then you can leave to dry, in the morning the burn will leave a dry crust and naturally will not even hurt, and after 3 days it will disappear altogether. This is if not a very strong burn. Severe burns are also not recommended to wet and best of all as I wrote above: grate fresh potatoes and attach to the wound for a couple of hours. Tested on yourself more than once.
It is better to buy a tool that helps with burns. I use spray panthenol, helped me when I burned myself with boiling water and when I grabbed a hot pan, it also helped. In general, the pharmacy told me that this spray is the best remedy for burns and does not contain parabens. Only it is important to take a smile next to the name, and then there are many fakes, but they do not help.
In all types of burns (steam burns, boiling water, sunburn, burns from the fire) you can wet the burn site, or rather use a cold hearth to cool the burn place to avoid its deeper penetration.
For chemical burns, you also need to wash the place of the burn to remove the reagent.
But it is impossible to wet the lime burn.
It depends on the burn. In principle, any burn can be wetted. Some to cool the burn place. Others to better rinse. But only at the very beginning, in the future, dampness will interfere with healing and may cause decay. And of course do not extinguish the lime on yourself, get even more burn. I know for sure, rubbing propolis with tincture- even relieves fresh scars after a burn.
The place of the burn can be washed off with cold water before being treated with a special medicine or a folk remedy.
Even with burns of 2 and 3 degrees, it is recommended to first apply a cloth moistened with cold water, which must be periodically changed.
The main thing, if blisters appear, they cannot be opened and allowed to burst.
When the pain subsides, you can treat the burn surface with alcohol, and after that, apply a bandage using panthenol.
In case of burns, one should generally not wet the wound – and if the wound began to swell, blisters appeared – then all the more you should not wet the place of the burn – for this there are special ointments for burns. Chemical burns are strictly forbidden to wet – so that the reaction does not go.
Initially, almost any burn should be washed with cold water to avoid a deeper burn.
In the future, burn the wet is not desirable, it is better to keep it open and dry more often.
Not expensive and effective ointment is very good for burns.
Burn burn discord First of all, people are interested in whether it is possible to drench water with ordinary temperature burns from boiling water or hot objects. So, these burns can be wetted, as a rule. Of course, if a thermal burn is extensive and is expressed by the formation of large bubbles, then it is better not to wet it. These burns are usually put on a sterile dressing and if wet, it can damage the blisters, and it is known that the burn site is very easily infected and can become inflamed. In addition, wet skin tends to strongly stretch and bubbles easily burst. Therefore, it is not recommended to wet large bubbles, but small and just reddened skin can be wetted, but not rubbed. Also, do not forget that immediately after a burn, you should cool down the burn site as quickly as possible, and this is easiest to do with cool water.
Against self-treatment, but the burn may not be strong. I used the ointment – I took Panthenol, I drive it in the car in the first-aid kit. Water course can not be burned. And the ointment will work fine. It’s cold. Not so unpleasant.
For severe burns immediately to the hospital, or to call an ambulance
Heat burn should be treated with alcohol. No need to wet. In case of burns with acids and alkalis, you must first wipe the corrosive liquid from the body with a cloth, and then rinse under running water for at least 15 minutes. Then put a bandage with the balm of the Balynins.
If it is fresh, it is not just possible to soak it, but even it is necessary to lower the temperature of the burned area of the body. And it should be done as cold as possible. And then it is washed with hydrogen peroxide.
Burns are different for the reason that caused them, as well as by degree. Therefore, the tactics of treatment and attitudes towards burns are also different. Burn from boiling water or from another factor with a high temperature (thermal burn) is best treated immediately with chlorhexidine, then smear the burn with ointment quot; Levomicol; or similar, but from personal experience I would say that the Vietnamese balsam quot; Zvezdochkaquot; With minor burns, you can wash and shower, but do not rub the place of the burn. With severe burns, you need to contact the surgeon – there will already be another tactic.
In the first minute when household burn it hurts to lower the temperature in this place and get the analgesic effect, you can stick your hand under the stream cold water. It will become easier. But oil, there is such a myth, lubricate the burn is not recommended. You can make an infection, and you will not get any therapeutic effect.
Burn well handle quot; Panthenolquot; or simply hydrogen peroxide. And there is also a folk remedy – to smear him household soap. This really helps, there will not even be red skin if the burn is superficial. To do this, I keep on the kitchen sink bath with a piece of soap. Used it more than once. It’s amazing that everything goes after a while.
You have a household injury – boiling water burn, and you do not know what to do and where to run with it to help the victim? The most important thing is to be able to quickly navigate and correctly provide first aid. It depends on how well the first aid will be provided for boiling water, how deep the burn spreads and how large the area will eventually take.
First aid for burns boiling water
Probably, everyone intuitively will run to substitute the burn place under the stream of cold running water, quickly taking off the clothes at this place already under water, and will do the right thing. It is better if it is not a plumbing jet, but a container with cool water, but this possibility is rare in reality, it is better to cherish time and get water into the container when the place of the burn is already cooled. 2 points are important here. The first is that the water should be cool, not too cold, so as not to cause a shock from sudden cooling. The second is that while the burn is under cold water (you can hold it under it for up to 20 minutes), it is necessary to estimate the degree of the burn.
The correct action in the first minutes after a burn with boiling water will be its cooling with not too cold running water for 15-20 minutes.
The degree of burn is important to assess for the correctness of further action.
- 1 degree – superficial burn, only redness and swelling is visible, there may be small small bubbles;
- Grade 2 – also a superficial burn, but a little deeper, except for redness and swelling there are intense or already burst bubbles, a thin scab is formed;
- Grade 3 – deep burn, comes to the muscles, the bubbles are usually already burst, there is a scab;
- Grade 4 – the burn reaches the depths to the bones, the superficial tissues undergo necrosis (necrosis), charring and blackening can be seen.
So, if the burn degree is 1 or 2, You can get treatment at home. But at the same time, the extensiveness of the burn should be no more than 1% of the body area (approximately no more than the area of the victim’s palm). With the defeat of the hand, foot, face, genital organs, even with the first and second degrees of burn, it is better to consult a doctor, as there may be problems with scarring of these parts of the body.
If grade 3 or 4, need to call an ambulance, the sooner the better. Moreover, it is necessary to hurry, if the burn area is large. At 3 and 4 degrees, if the burn area is more than 5%, so-called burn disease may occur (a condition where the entire body is impaired by shock). Such a condition can occur even at degrees 1 and 2, if the extent of the lesion is greater than 10%.
If a boiling water burn occurred in a child, then you should consult a doctor for any degree of burn, since every child’s body reacts to the injury very individually and unpredictably, the likelihood of complications is high, so it is better to be safe.
The purpose of further actions is also cooling the burn site, preventing its infection, and anesthesia. Even if the arrival of an ambulance is expected, all this must be done, since time cannot be lost.
To prevent the wound from becoming infected, it must be very carefully washed with cool water and soap. Then it is necessary to continue its cooling: put a sterile cloth moistened with cold water. An injured person can be given an analgesic, an antihistamine (reduce swelling), be sure to give him more water to drink (a lot of fluid leaves the body through the wound).
In the further treatment of boiling water burns, there are 2 methods: open and closed. Open – without dressing, closed – with a bandage. Open – often more effective, but it is likely to infect wounds. The doctor must decide which method to apply. But in the first hours after receiving the burn, it is usually applied closed to not infect a fresh wound. The burn is treated with an antiseptic, for example, furatsilinom and covered with a sterile cloth, then ligation is done.
In addition to furatsilina now there are a great many modern drugs for first aid for burns, they are in the form of a gel or aerosol. These drugs are valuable in that they contain both anesthetic components and antibiotics, as well as components that stimulate granulation (restorative) processes and reduce wound soaking. Such drugs include Panthenol, Olazol, Solcoseryl and others. It is better if they are always in the first-aid kit.
Further, when the wound ceases to be oozing, preparations in the form of ointments, containing a fatty basis, are used, since now it is necessary to accelerate the processes of epithelialization and the formation of elastic scar tissue.
- Immediately after an injury, lubricate the burn site with animal or vegetable fats or ointments – fat retains heat in the wound and is also a good environment for infection.
- Treat such irritating antiseptics as alcohol, iodine, potassium permanganate, etc., because they cause a strong pain effect and further make it difficult for the doctor to assess the extent of the lesion.
- Putting ice on a wound with the purpose of cooling directly, without wrapping it in a cloth – may cause frostbite in addition to a burn.
- Pierce the bubbles yourself, as the bubble is the best protective film against infection.
It would be very good if everyone owned this knowledge, boiling water burns in everyday life are very common. Of course, the treatment of burns is the prerogative of the doctor, but how you provide first aid will facilitate further treatment and speed up recovery.
