How to make an enema at home?

For carrying out the cleansing enema, various solutions are used, for example, a solution of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice, prepared on the basis of a large spoon per liter of boiled water. For atonic constipation, an enema with cool water should be done, and vice versa, with spastic constipation and increased intestinal motility, it is recommended to use hot water to prepare a solution.

The volume of fluid for an adult should be about one and a half liters. Cleansing enema is best done with an Esmarch cup, which is placed at a height of about 1-1.5 meters. The mug is filled with the selected solution, after which the tap is opened and excess air is released from the hose. The anus of the patient and the tip are lubricated with oil or petroleum jelly, then the tip is inserted into the anus, slightly turning it down. Depth of insertion should not exceed 15 centimeters. Next, open the tap and let in the intestine solution. If the patient feels pain, then the tap is closed even if the water has not yet entered all. After some time, after the cessation of pain, inject the remaining solution.

When the entire volume of the inputs is entered, the tip is removed. The patient is recommended to lie down for a few minutes on his back, lightly stroking his stomach, and then roll over onto his right side. The whole procedure should not take more than 20 minutes, as in this case, the liquid will begin to be absorbed through the intestinal walls.

How to prepare a solution for enema

Important parameters of an enema solution are its temperature and composition. The procedure should not be performed with a liquid that has a temperature of more than 40 degrees, because otherwise a burn of the large intestine can be obtained. When preparing the solution, it is desirable to measure the temperature with a thermometer to avoid possible unpleasant consequences. The important point is the composition of the solution. Soap, soda, salt and other solutions are often used for the procedure, as well as products based on medicinal plants.

Enema solution temperature

The temperature of the solution for a conventional cleansing enema, while maintaining normal peristalsis, can be 25-35 degrees. If the procedure is carried out to combat constipation caused by a decrease in the motor activity of the intestine, it is better to use solutions with cool water, the temperature of which can be 12-20 degrees. Treatment of constipation of a spastic nature involves the use of hot enemas, in such cases the water temperature can be 35-40 degrees.

At home, to establish the causes of constipation is quite difficult, so do not experiment with the temperature of the solution, it is better to stay on the usual version. Use cool and hot enemas can only be after a visit and consultation with a doctor.

Enema saline solution

The use of saline enema helps activate intestinal receptors, increases peristalsis and accelerates the passage of fecal matter. Saline solutions increase the osmotic pressure in the intestine, and also soften the feces. The effect of such an enema is usually observed after a quarter of an hour.

Saline solution can be prepared using ordinary or English (dry powder of magnesia) salt. When used for this salt, it is dissolved in boiled clean water at the rate of a large spoon per 100 ml of water. If English salt is used, the proportion is 20 g per 100 ml of water. Inject the solution into the intestines with a small rubber pear. The volume of injected fluid is about 50 ml.

Enema soda solution

This tool is advisable to use with high acidity, which often happens with diarrhea and constipation. To prepare such a solution, you need to dissolve the baking soda in clean water of the required temperature, the ratio is 30 g of soda per liter of water. To increase the efficiency of the procedure, a small amount of salt can be added to the solution.

Enema Soap Solution

Soap solutions for enema are usually used for constipation, they activate the peristaltic movements of the large intestine. Glycerin, which has a similar effect, can also be added to the solution.

To prepare, pour half a small spoon of baby or any other neutral soap without dyes and fragrances, previously grated, into a liter of water. Then the solution is thoroughly mixed until the soap chips are completely dissolved.

Chamomile solution for enema

Chamomile solution for enema can be used for constipation to cleanse the intestines. Broths and chamomile extracts have an astringent effect, and are also capable of absorbing gases in the digestive tract. For preparation, dried chamomile flowers are poured with boiling water and after 20 minutes they pass through cheesecloth. In the resulting infusion add water, bringing the volume to the desired, and carry out the procedure. Chamomile solution is often prescribed to pregnant women and children, since using it instead of water reduces the likelihood of developing dysbiosis.
