Diet number 5p (table number 5p) – medical nutrition system designed for people with pancreatitis.

The treatment table 5p is prescribed to normalize the function of the pancreas, mechanical and chemical sparing of the stomach and intestines, reduce the excitability of the gallbladder, prevent fatty infiltration of the liver and pancreas.

Diet 5p is characterized by increased protein content, a decrease in fats and carbohydrates (in particular, sugar). Extractives, refractory fats, purines, cholesterol, essential oils and coarse fiber are limited. Excluded fried foods. The amount of vitamins and lipotropic substances is increased.

Dishes should be consumed in mashed and ground form, baked, boiled in water or steamed. Hot and very cold dishes are also excluded.

Options diet number 5p:

  • Option 1 is used for acute and chronic pancreatitis in the acute stage;
  • Option 2 is used for acute pancreatitis in remission and chronic pancreatitis during the recovery period after exacerbation and without exacerbation.

Indications for use of diet number 5p:

Option number 1: acute pancreatitis and exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis, 2-4 days after the onset of the attack of the disease (when the fasting period ends or the transition from parenteral nutrition to enteral nutrition).

The main goal of the 1st version of the diet is to ensure maximum rest to the inflamed organ by eliminating foods and dishes that can stimulate the secretory activity of the pancreas, stomach and gall bladder. Excluded are products that have an irritating effect on the mucous membranes of the digestive tract and pancreas, as well as hard-to-digest products and products with a direct damaging effect on the pancreas.

Option number 2: chronic pancreatitis in remission.

The second variant of the treatment table is designed to ensure the speedy recovery of the pancreas and its functions. The diet is enriched with protein, vitamins and minerals. Also, this option prevents the exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis and prevents the occurrence of complications.
